Every caregiver can obtain respite as part of the CLSC home support program. Several respite options exist to allow you to take time for yourself while your loved one is looked after by trained and competent people. Temporary accommodation, which is distinct from permanent accommodation, is a formula that allows caregivers to rest for a predetermined period of time.

Accommodation arrangements can very in terms of duration and intensity of the care. Your loved one can temporarily housed in an intermediate resource, a family-type resources or in a CHSLD (long-term care center). These are all adapted environments for people who need support for their daily autonomy.

You must contact your CLSC, which will evaluate the request and the needs. The staff will accompany you in the different steps to follow to complete the request for access to temporary accommodation. Please note that depending on your area the waiting time for that service may vary.
