FAQ - Idem Dementia Clock

If the clock is unplugged or if there is a power failure, how long is the battery life?
The Idem clock has a battery backup in case of power failure. The battery life lasts for 6 to 8 hours.

What happens if the clock is offline?
If your clock is offline (and isn’t the 3G SIM card equipped version) it will continue to display all communications scheduled for the next 10 days. However, you won't be able to follow the status of your communications on your mobile app.

How do you change the time on the Idem clock ?
The time adjusts automatically during daylight saving time.

What is the best way of using the communication features?

Is this a talking dementia clock?
Voice playback is available for reminders. The read aloud function is also available to announce the time every hour on the hour.

Can I set up alarms?
Yes, you can set up an alarms. When selecting the ‘reminders’ communication feature, you can select an alarm sound and the option to request a yes or no confirmation from your loved one. You can also customize the duration of time the reminder will be displayed on the clock. You can create as many alarms and reminders as you would like.

Are they additional fees for using the app?
No. The use of the App is included when you purchase an Idem clock.

How many people can have access to companion app and manage / send messages to the calendar clock?
Multiple users (unlimited amount) can be created in order to share and coordinate tasks among caregivers and create a supportive network.

What makes Idem a dementia friendly clock?
The clear and simplified display is suitable for people with cognitive impairment.

Is this clock a good fit for someone who has vision and/or hearing impairment?
Yes. The Idem clock offers the possibility of speech synthesis and ringing tones of different intensities as well as a display with large legible print.

Is the SIM card included?
A SIM card is included with the Idem 3G version. It is not possible to change the device's SIM card.

Does my loved one need a cell phone plan for the clock to work?
No. A cell phone plan is not needed for you loved one. The Idem clock can be compatible with Wi-Fi connection or equipped with a 3G SIM card. A cell phone or tablet is required for the caregiver who wishes to manages and send communications through the clock remotely.

What languages are supported by the app and the clock?
The App and the clock are available to display information in English and French. However, you communications (messages, notes…) can be in any language (you can even use emojis!)

Can I call my loved one or send photos through the clock?
Not yet, but the Idem team is constantly working on making the Idem clock the best communication tool for caregivers and loved ones.

Is the clock Under Warranty?
Idem clocks are guaranteed for 1 year. If you have a hardware problem with your device, please contact info@idem.ca

Is it battery operated or does the clock require to be plugged in an outlet?
The Idem clock has a battery life of 6 to 8 hours. It requires to be plugged in an outlet for ongoing use.

How will my membership be charged ?
When creating your account in the Idem Companion App, you will be asked to provide your banking information (only if you have purchased the 3G connected clock). The name ****IDEM TECH**** will show up on your monthly bank or credit card statements.

What happens if I stop paying my membership?
Your 3G connected Wi-Fi Idem clock will no longer be able to received communications 30 days following your last payments. It will continue to display all communications scheduled for the next 10 days. However, you won't be able to follow the status of your communications on your mobile app.
